Town: Issuing Food and Water in Sandy's Aftermath

North Hempstead is partnering with County and Federal government.

North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman announced Thursday that local and federal officials have partnered to authorize the opening of Points of Distribution (POD) at various locations throughout the town.

Only food and water will be available at the POD, which are also equipped to distribute kosher Meals Ready to Eat (MRE).

The seven sites set up throughout North Hempstead are located at:

  • Bunky Reid Park in Westbury
  • Tully Park in New Hyde Park
  • Roslyn LIRR Station
  • Port Washington LIRR Station
  • Manhasset High School
  • Great Neck North High School
  • Great Neck South High School

Distribution begins Friday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m.

The POD works like this:

Upon arrival at the POD site, residents, from inside or outside the Town, will be asked to provide the official in charge their names, town of residence and number of people in their immediate family.

They will then be provided with water and MRE's, enough to last three days.
Call 311 for more information.

Is Jon Kaiman really taking this opportunity for a photo op?? Unbelievable!

Just get rid of Kaiman

Thanks to Jon Kaiman and FEMA, Thousands of meals and bottles of water were delivered to GN South HS and no one came..except a few volunteers. We didn't have anything to do...

GK's comment is indicative of what's wrong with this world. Great photo opp for FEMA & Kaiman but does nothing to get the supplies to the folks that need them. Shouldn't these supplies be taken to the folks that need them, rather than having people come to central points. We have an infrastructure of Volunteer Fire Departments in Nassau County that could have easily gotten supplies to any areas that needed them. If not needed in TONH, the supplies should have been diverted to the South Shore and Rockaways. And this is the guy they want to run LIPA?

No one wants Kaiman for LIPA the story was fabricated by the cable company's paper NewsDay as a favor to Kaiman , as he is being forced out of Town .
