Upgrades Made at North Hempstead Beach Park

Look for a revamped boat ramp and brand new ball fields.

The crowds aren't flocking there yet, but when they do, visitors to  will notice some improvements. 

That includes a rebuild of the boat ramp and brand new Little League ball fields. 

The boat ramp "had seen better days," a  spokesman said, adding that it should be completed in early summer.

The town is spending roughly $400,000 on the project, and thanks to a grant from New York State Department of State, North Hempstead will be reimbursed $150,000.

"Meanwhile, construction of the two brand new Little League ball fields is progressing," the spokesman said. The high demand for fields "is in great part the impetus for constructing the fields," he added. Approximate costs for this upgrade is $1 million.

Other town parks have also received upgrades. In March, the town announced it had completed a renovation and repairs  to the baseball diamonds at .
