Werther Releases Videos as Part of 2013 Village Board Campaign

Mineola village trustee posting series of YouTube videos ahead of March election.

Mineola Village Trustee Lawrence Werther has issued several talking points and taken stances on issues relating to his independent bid for reelection to the village board.

In his introductory video, Werther promises to release new videos in subsequent weeks leading up to the election, including a discussion on a rejected 7-Eleven proposal, tax revenues, the Nassau County IDA, the property at 250 Old Country Road and the Winston project, in which he had numerous disagreements with other village board members.

All of the videos posted have a publication date of Feb. 18, 2013. There have not yet been any new videos posted.

In three YouTube videos posted posted so far, Werther discusses the following proposals:

  • sidewalk repair
  • requiring businesses to file blueprints of their locations if they house caustic and/ or explosive materials , which is says is necessary to protect firefighters
  • rezoning the Jackson Steel facility off Herricks Road – a former Superfund site – from commercial to residential

Werther was dropped from the New Line Party earlier this year and his place on the ticket was taken by Mineola resident Dennis Walsh.
