Advanced Hearing Center - Hearing Workshop

Whether you have difficulty hearing, or are currently wearing hearing devices, Advanced Hearing Center in Albertson was the place to be on a recent Tuesday morning. Dr. Amy Sapodin, co-owner, held a one-hour workshop to inform the public about various and effective communication strategies available, while demonstrating several devices such as a captioned telephone (you have the ability to read on a screen while listening to your caller).  The workshop was held for people who wear hearing devices, and for those who do not. Dr. Sapodin discussed simple procedures to make life easier – for the speaker and the listener - when communicating with hearing-impaired people.

Mrs. Joan Rising attended the free workshop with her husband, Edward, and was eager to respond when asked if she learned anything from Dr. Sapodin. “I have been wearing hearing aids for many years, and I have never had anyone care so much, or try to solve my problems, after they sell you the hearing aids.  I used to go to another place, and I am so happy that I found out through a friend about Advanced Hearing Center. I have never been treated so well after buying hearing aids.”

Another attendee added that Dr. Sapodin was so thorough that she answered her husband’s questions before he even asked.

“We dispense so many hearing aids each month and, although each patient does not leave our office until they feel comfortable with their new devices, there is usually a question that comes to mind later,” said Dr. Sapodin. Patients are always welcome to call with concerns, and may also take advantage of the appointment-free times that are offered every Monday and Wednesday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm.

The Hearing Workshop, held the first Tuesday of every month at their Albertson location on Willis Avenue, is free of charge and open to current patients, people who wear hearing aids dispensed by another facility, or for anyone who may have questions about living with hearing loss and the options available.
