Homecoming Celebrates 50 Years of Mineola High

Clear skies and a Mustang victory top off 2011 homecoming parade.

Despite threatening skies, it did not rain on the 30th annual Mineola Homecoming Parade last Saturday. The event went on as scheduled, and celebrated the 50th anniversary of .

The parade began at noon at the corner of Andrews Road and Jericho Turnpike and headed east on Jericho to Roslyn Road. From there, the parade route turned south on Roslyn, then left on Westbury Avenue, and a right on Union into and a .

The 2011 Homecoming Court featured seniors Joe Massaro as the Homecoming King and Alicia Mercurio as Homecoming Queen. Massaro, a standout linebacker on the football team, was unable to make the entire parade route (he had a football game to get ready for), but donned his king outfit at the beginning of the parade.

The Junior Princess was Nikky Taylor Massaro while Emilia Beszterda was elected princess for the sophomores. Elizabeth Brown was crowned Freshman Princess.

I'm sorry Marie but there is no information about when the project will actually start. TheRead More developer had requested an extension from the board at a previous meeting and we do not know of a firm start date. When we do receive one, we will most certainly publish it.
