Mineola HS is considerably older than 50 years. Could the 50th anniversary be referring to the 50th anniversary of the class of 1961?

I don’t think so John. The floats all say “Happy 50th Birthday Mineola High School” – we even have photos of them. The original high school on Emory Rd. was built in 1923 and converted to the Middle School in 1962. It’s still the 50th anniversary, but of the “new” high school building.
