Kindergartener is Principal for a Day at Hampton School

Lilly Schettino won chance to be principal for a day at Mineola school on May 1, 2013.

Lilly Schettino, a kindergarten student at Hampton Street School in the Mineola School District, took on avery grown-up job on May 1.

She ended up serving as Principal for the Day, helping Principal Devra Small with many important tasks including classroom visits, making announcements, running a fire drill and attending meetings.

Schettino won this honor in a drawing on Supermarket Bingo Night, a fundraiser run by the PTA.

As principal, Lilly said her favorite part was “visiting the classes,” which is also Mrs. Small’s favorite part of the day.
