In what has become an annual tradition at Meadow Drive Street School in the Mineola School District, students and staff hosted the third annual hockey tournament on Jan. 17.
The schoolwide activity involves all students and staff members forming teams to compete for a hockey title and the designation of most valuable player.
The second-grade team Orange Eagles were the highest scoring student team, although they did not make it to the final round.
Instead, all students cheered on their teachers as the final two staff teams faced off for the cup. Organized by physical education teacher Christine Grayson, a total of seven student teams and six teacher/staff teams played in the tournament.
