Over 50 graduates from Mineola High School’s Class of 2012 returned to their alma mater to share their college experiences with current juniors and seniors as part ofthe high school’s annual alumni day.
Moderated by the Mineola High School Guidance Department, the alumni panel participated in topical discussions including the collegeapplication and decision-making processes, academic rigor and college life.
Panel members encouraged juniors to take the SAT and ACT exams multiple times, apply tocolleges as soon as possible and complete financial aid and scholarship applications in atimely manner.
High schoolers remarked that the day answered numerous questions about thecollege process and relieved many of their worries.
Summing up the impact of the event, guidance counselor Frank Azzara stated, “It was education and community at its best – students helping students.”
