A third grade teacher from the Jackson Avenue School in Mineola is also spending her time as a member of a “Sweet Adeline” singing group called The Greater Nassau Chorus.
Alaina Tutrone, who has taught in the district for the past 4 years, has been with this chorus since 2004 and even has an undergraduate degree in music education with a concentration in voice.
The group, which performs at several venues over the course of the year, competed in and placed at the Sweet Adeline’s International Competition held in Houston, Texas this past October.
Tutrone’s group came in first at their regional competition in 2010, which qualified them for participation in the international event, where they placed eighth out of over 30 choruses from around the globe.
The Mineola School District offered its congratulations to Tutrone on her talent and her group’s success.
