Boyd Gets His Due

High School Sports Notebook: Stephen Boyd, Buddy Krumenacker and Rick Punzone named coaches of the year.

Football season ended with a thud – the thud of a last-second field goal block to seal Chaminade’s first Catholic league championship since 1998 .

The Flyers also exorcised a decade-long team losing streak by beating St. Anthony’s, 17-16, to claim the CHSFL Class AAA crown Dec. 1. Now the accolades keep coming as Chaminade’s Stephen Boyd was one of three coaches named to Newsday’s All-Long Island football team.

Boyd, a former Nassau player of the year from Valley Stream and NFL All-Pro linebacker, lifted the Flyers to a 10-1 season.

Farmingdale’s Buddy Krumenacker and Babylon’s Rick Punzone were also named coaches of the year.

Krumenacker went 10-2 as the Dalers won the Nassau Conference I championship. Along the way, he earned his 210th career victory.

Punzone directed Babylon to a perfect 12-0 season and 48-18 win over Roosevelt to claim the Long Island Class IV title. The program later earned the Rutgers Trophy as Suffolk team of the year, a first for the Panthers.

I'm sorry Marie but there is no information about when the project will actually start. TheRead More developer had requested an extension from the board at a previous meeting and we do not know of a firm start date. When we do receive one, we will most certainly publish it.
