Chaminade Basketball Grad Named to 2013 All-Conference Team

Kevin Hargrove one of 11 Division III players to notch a triple-double in 2012-13 season.

Chaminade High School Class of 2010 member and current Muhlenberg College junior Kevin Hargrove was recently named to the All-Centennial Conference first team.

It was Hargrove’s first All-CC honor, and it capped off a breakout season for the 6-10 center. The junior started all but two games for Muhlenberg and led the conference with 8.6 rebounds per game and 2.8 blocks per game. He ranked second on the team with 12.5 points per game, including a career high 29 points in a playoff-berth-clinching comeback win at McDaniel, and led Muhlenberg and ranked second in the CC with a .574 field-goal percentage.

Hargrove was one of just 11 players in Division III to notch a triple-double this season. He had 12 points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks in 25 minutes of playing time in the Mules’ earlier victory over McDaniel. He also recorded a team-high five double-doubles, including 24 points and 17 rebounds in a 77-59 win over eventual CC champion Dickinson.

At the end of January Hargrove broke the school record for career blocks and finished the season with 188. He also topped his own school record for blocked shots in a single season with 76.

The team finished the season ranked No. 1 in the conference with a 17-10 overall record, 12-6 in the conference and in the top 25 in Division III in field-goal percentage defense (.388). They qualified for the conference tournament for the second straight year, where they posted a 45-43 comeback win against Gettysburg in the first round but fell 48-46 against top-seeded Franklin & Marshall in the semifinals in the final minute of play.
