Chaminade Lacrosse Downs Friars 10-5

Connors comes up with 16 saves against league rivals.

The Chaminade Flyers delivered a crushing 10-5 defeat to St. Anthony’s at Tuesday’s varsity lacrosse game .

St. Anthony’s, led by Coach Keith Wiczorek and co-captains Joe Locasio and Greg Danseglio, were up 4-2 early in the game, but the Flyers fought back and routed their league arch-rivals 10-5, by scoring eight consecutive goals.

Matt Kavanagh scored three goals and had one assist for the Flyers. Goalie John Connors had a tremendous game, coming up with sixteen saves, many from right in front of the crease.

“Our kids always look forward to this game” Flyers head coach Jack Moran said as he praised his team for the decisive victory.

Moran said the Flyers came out a little over excited in the first quarter, but were able to settle down in the second half and control the tempo of the game by ball passing and make the key plays.

Chaminade will play St. Anthony’s again on May 11 in Huntington.

Next up the Flyers will face Iona Prep on April 14 in a home game at 11 a.m.
