Flyers Can't Help North at 2011 All-American Lacrosse Match

South rallies despite goal, saves from Chaminade alumni Sean Mahon and John Connors.

Despite having terrific seasons, new alumni Sean Mahon and John Connors couldn’t help the North All-American Boys team overcome a late rally the Under Armour All-American game Saturday night at Towson University.

Action for the pair of Flyers came early in the contest as Mahon got a shot into the South team’s net 10:42 into the first quarter for an unassisted goal.

The midfielder had a total of three shots on the net and got two grounders in his time on the field.

Mahon’s goal helped the North jump out to an early 4-1 lead, but the early momentum didn’t help the North team later on in a tight, 11-9, loss.

The South netted four unanswered goals in the third quarter before the North could muster a pair in the fourth before time ran out.

This is just the second time the South team has won in the 6 years the game has been played.

Connors was the North’s starting goalkeeper, garnering a no-decision in the match. In his 30 minutes of goalkeeping in the first half, Connors allowed six of the South’s goals and made five saves.
