Flyers Hockey Continues Skid Against Iona 6-2

Flyers drop fourth straight to remain winless on season.

The hits just keep on coming on the ice for .

Playing without senior forward Norman Riker and continuing to miss , the Flyers fell to 0-4-0 after a 6-2 loss to Iona Prep at Ice Hutch in Mount Vernon Sunday.

Chris Agnone made 26 saves in place of Dorsey, who coach Frank Bendl said will have an MRI on his injured shoulder Monday. Bendl said Riker was "unavailable" due to a "commitment."

"I talked to them about being ready to go," Bendl said. "We scored the first goal, but they weren't ready to go. When you get beat to pucks it shows. You've got to be prepared from the drop of the puck. You start getting beat to every puck and you start falling behind."

The Flyers remained winless despite scoring first for the first time as Patrick Keeler finished a pass from Anthony Ambrsino 55 seconds into the first period.

Despite the progress, Chaminade's advantage didn't last long as Iona Prep junior Phil Logerfo scored his first of three goals on the day to tie the game.

A few minutes later, Logerfo netted his second and the Gaels began taking control. With just over three minutes to go in the first period, Adam Tracey scored and the Flyers went back to the bench down 3-1.

Kieran O'Meara scored 2:45 seconds into the second period and shortly after that senior captain Grep Digioia scored to give the Gaels a 5-1 lead.

Dylan Scarpato had another strong game for the Flyers on Sunday night. The senior scored his second goal of the season with four minutes to go in the second period to make the score 5-2. Scarpato now has four points this season including a goal in each of the last two games.

"I thought we were playing even hockey in the second period and on one shift with

Dylan's line we almost scored two or three goals, we could have closed the gap a little bit,' Bendl said. "It was a flat effort early in the game, but this was not a team we can't beat."

Two minutes after Scarpato scored, Logerfo completed his hat trick.

Despite a scoreless third period, the Gaels outshot the Flyers, 12-3 and 32-18 overall.

"It's a rough go so far, we're working hard out there," Scapato said. "I'm just trying to do what's best for the team. The last couple of games we've been right there for a lot of it. We'll get it together."
