“It was a big clash and a great test for us tonight,” Island Trees Coach Graham Radcliffe said. "I thought we executed well when we needed to against a team that is ranked fifth in the state.”

Despite the early 1-0 deficit, Mineola was able to rebound to start the second half as senior Danny Muller connected on a shot in the 31st minute.

The shot was set up by freshman Daniel Pardo who was able to cross the ball in front of the Island Trees defenders.

“I thought when we tied it at 1-1 we had a good bit of momentum on our side,” Mineola coach Paul Pereira said, giving the Bulldogs credit. “They were able to expose our weaknesses particularly towards the end of the game. Our weaknesses being our goalie and our weakside midfielders.”

Island Trees managed to work the ball down in front of the Mineola goal and they were able to take advantage of their opportunities.

Famularo went on his scoring spree in a 6 minute span from the 19 minute mark.

His late second half goals effectively put the game out of reach for the Mustangs.

The Bulldogs next game will be home against Seaford on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Mustangs will play at Clarke on Saturday at 10:30am.
