On October 21 the Mineola 10U Intramural baseball tram hosted Manhasset at the , coming up with a 14-4 victory under the lights.
The highlight of the perfect autumnal night was solid pitching turned in by Ryan Duffy and Patrick Lanigan, who allowed only two runs each and kept the Manhasset hitters off-balance all night and shutting down any momentum Manhasset attempted to begin.
The big hitter of the evening for Mineola was David Escorcia, who had a bases loaded double and a sacrifice fly to finish the game with 4 RBIs. Jordan Sandler went 3-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Ryan Duffy was 2-3 with two runs scored. Other big hits were provided by Nick Ramirez, Patrick Lanigan and Aidan Tice.
Kenny Solosky catching four strong innings behind the plate while James Tighe, Kieran O’Gara, Andrew Geagher and Steven Collica turned in strong defensive performances.
On Sunday, October 23, Mineola hosted Merillon, shutting out the New Hyde Park team 7-0. Again pitching dominated as Jordan Sandler and Patrick Lanigan combined for a one hit shutout. Sandler struck out 11 and Lanigan pitched his way out of a bases loaded jam.
The offense was provided by Kieran O’Gara (2 RBI’s), Tommy Curry (2 RBIs), Joey Boshans, Steven Collica and Aidan Tice. Patrick Solosky scored a pair of runs and had 3 stolen bases.
The Mineola defense was led by Kenny Solosky, Joshua Giron and Andrew Geagher.
Merillon ended the game when after singling to right field the player tried to stretch it into a double but was gunned down on a throw from Steven Collica to secondbaseman Jordan Sandler.
Mineola’s record stands at 5-2 for the season.
