Mineola Alumna Wins Third Lacrosse Championship with Adelphi

Former Mustang Kaitlyn Carter helps undefeated Panthers win third straight NCAA title.

graduate Kaitlyn Carter once again finds herself sitting behind a NCAA trophy.

The student along with other members of the Division II women’s lacrosse team with a 17-4 win over No. 3 Limestone to complete an undefeated 20-0 season. It is the second time in 3 years that the Panthers have gone undefeated and their winning streak now stands at 26 games dating back to the 2010 season.

The Adelphi lacrosse program has quickly come to dominate the Division II rankings, having won a NCAA record third straight national championship in their tenth season.

Mineola’s Katherine Hock-Bennett (Mineola High School class of 2001) led Adelphi to its first national championship in 2004 and was the Panther’s all-time leading scorer. Hock-Bennett also provided color commentary for the game on the NCAA website.

Carter, a senior midfielder, scored Adelphi’s sixth goal of the championship game with about 18 minutes left in the first half. She also had four shots on goal and three grounders in the championship game.
