Mineola Girls Lacrosse Falls to North Shore 12-9

Mineola loses to No. 1 team in Conference C as final regular season game looms Monday.

The Mineola girls lacrosse team dropped their Thursday, this time a 12-9 loss to North Shore, who currently sits atop the Conference C league standings. With the loss, the Lady Mustangs dropped to a 5-8 overall record.

Ten minutes into the game, North Shore had a 4-1 lead over the Lady Mustangs, improving it to 6-1 at the 9 minute mark, putting them into a deep hole thanks to intense defense.

Mineola fought back to 10-4 just before the break with a pair of goals Kerri Medlock and the other two coming off the sticks of Lacey Fater and Erica Antonison.

In the second, the Lady Mustangs held back North Shore enough to where they only scored two goals off goalkeeper Katie Dul. Unfortunately, the home team wasn’t able to penetrate North Shore’s defense, and too little time was left to mount a comeback.

“We played an undefeated team in the conference, and we did our best,” Mineola head coach Frank Massaro said. “We didn’t shoot too great today, and North Shore’s defense was too much.”

The Lady Mustangs will play their , “and we're going to do our best to make the playoffs,” Massaro said.
