Mineola Girls Soccer Shuts Out Malverne 4-0
Forward Nina Ribeiro gets career-high 4 goals as Lady Mustangs take on Mules in Conference A-IV.
The field was wet and the players drenched in Tuesday's Conference A-4 matchup between Mineola and Malverne/East Rockaway on the soccerfield at Malverne High School.
But a little wet weather did not stop the Lady Mustangs’ forward, Nina Ribeiro from scoring a career high 4-goals to blank the Mules 4-0.
“Nina had a spectacular day for us,” Mineola head coach Katherine Bennett said. “Once she gets in that zone there is no stopping her.”

This was an important game for the Lady Mustangs who faced a team that was only a game behind them in the conference. Mineola had previously played Malverne/East Rockaway on September 13 beating them by the same 4-0 shutout, but Malvenre had run off 4 straight wins since and were looking for payback in the standings.
Ribeiro had other ideas, making sure the Mules did not get a chance, spreading her netters out with two in each half. Goalkeeper Samantha Venus was also instrumental in the win for the Lady Mustangs, recording 6 saves on the day.

“We have a young team made up of mostly freshmen and sophomores,” Malverne/East Rockaway coach Joe Lores said. “I’m proud of the effort our girls put in today, but we just lost to a better team.”
Mineola (5-0, 6-1) will host Lawrence on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Malverne/East Rockaway will travel to Westbury on Friday for a 4:15 p.m. game.
