Mineola Native Named Skyline Pitcher of the Week
Old Westbury hurler Tyler Kapela gets conference honors.
Old Westbury freshman pitcher and Mineola native Tyler Kapela was named to the Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll on April 8.
Kapela recently tossed five scoreless innings with five strikeouts to combine with two other relievers for his first career shutout in Old Westbury’s 16-0 win against Yeshiva. He took a no-hitter into the fifth inning before giving up a one-out single.
A Holy Trinity graduate, Kapela is currently sporting a 2.25 ERA with a 2-1 record in 12 innings on the season.
