Mineola Native Scores First Goals of College Career in Maritime Win

Marisa Athan nets two goals in second half to lift SUNY Privateers to 2-1 record.

The SUNY Maritime women's soccer team improved to 2-1 Wednesday night after Mineola-native Marisa Athan scored her first two goals of her collegiate career in a 3-0 shutout over the Lehman Lightning.

Athan, a freshman, scored both goals in the second half of the contest, the first being in the 71st minute off a corner kick that junior Kadie Hook sent to the center of the box and was met mid-air by the head of Athan that found the net.

The second goal came less than five minutes later off a touch-pass from Jorrie Trenkamp in front of the goal that she got past Lehman goalie Marleny Hernandez.
