Mineola Portuguese Soccer Wins Third D1 Reserves Championship

Mineola Port defeats NY Polet 5-3 during Portuguese center carnival Sunday afternoon.

The Mineola Portuguese Soccer Club claimed its third Long Island Soccer Futebol League (LISFL) Division 1 Reserves championship this past weekend during the Mineola Portuguese Center Carnival at Wilson Park against Croatian team NY Polet.

Goals by captain Mike Carlos and Danny Carlos helped Mineola draw even at 2-2 during injury time in the second half, which sent the game into penalty kicks.

Mineola was perfect with their five shots while goalie Hector made one save to clinch the reserve championship with a score of 5-3, the club's first since the 1983-84 season.
