Mineola Softball Dominates Lady Bulldogs 15-5
Lady Mustangs play through cold and rain to defeat Roslyn.
Mineola softball faced off against Roslyn on Tuesday in a game that Coach Melissa Skupp was fairly confident about.
She was right, except for a moment in the top of the fifth when Roslyn pulled into the lead.
When asked if the game went as she expected, she replied, “I didn’t expect us to be behind at all.”

The Lady Mustangs started strong from their first at bat, racking up 3 runs in the first inning after Roslyn failed to break onto the scoreboard.
By the end of the second inning, however, this changed when Roslyn bats woke up and evened the score.

In the third, Roslyn gained the lead with a 2 run homer, partly resulting from a ground ball that got away from the infield.
This lead was short lived though, as Mineola reacted aggressively, posting an impressive 8 runs in the inning, with great hits from Christina Palmenteri and Kathryn Priolo.
The rain started in the top of the fourth and with the temperature already low, it made for a bitter time for the girls, especially pitcher Lauren Fischer, who struggled to keep the ball dry.
Roslyn never recovered enough to make a comeback and scored just one more run in the fourth before falling to Mineola’s defensive skill.
Mineola next travels to Lynbrook to take on the Lynbrook Lady Owls on Friday.
