Mineola Softball Slams South Side 9-3

Skupp goes 3-for-3 with 3 RBI and strikes out 11 in complete game.

The Mineola varsity softball team must have been getting a little fed up with all the drama lately. With , the Lady Mustangs soundly shot off a 3 run third inning against South Side (2-2, 3-4) on Tuesday en route to a 9-3 romp to remain in first place and improve their record to 4-0.

Mineola centerfielder Priscilla Ma got things started in the third frame with a single and advancing to second on a sacrifice from Lisa DeStefano. Leadoff hitter Christina Palmenteri continued her assault with the bat, singling Ma in and going 3-for-4 with two RBI and 3 runs scored and a stolen bag at third.

Pitcher Emily Skupp again threw for a full 7 innings and went 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored, 3 RBI and a stolen base while striking out 11 from the circle in a complete-game performance. The only runs she allowed against South Side came in the sixth inning with two outs by giving up a 3-run home run to cleanup hitter Lia Stamile.

Mineola (4-0, 5-0) will play again this afternoon at East Rockaway at 4:30 p.m.
