Fireworks Light Up Mineola Sky for Independence Weekend

Over 300 residents crowd into Memorial Park to celebrate Independence Day Weekend.

Over an estimated 300 Mineola residents visited Memorial Park Friday night to witness the annual fireworks display and opening of the summer concert series with a performance from the Nassau Pops Symphany Orchestra.

While the warm weather was thought to be a slight deterrent to residents coming out for the free event, many families and seniors brought lawnchairs, camping out on either the park lawn or the sloping hill in front of the Jackson Avenue School.

Once the sun went down and darkness descended, Bay Fireworks put on another dazzling show to light up the sky with a dazzling array of pyrotechnics.
