Registration Ongoing for 2013 Summer Camp at Nassau Parks

Registration is still available for Nassau County's Summer Recreation Program at locations across the county.

The 2013 Summer Recreation Program runs from July 1 – Aug. 8 (closed on July 4, 2013).  Nassau County’s Summer Recreation Program, operates in five County Parks: Cantiague in Hicksville; Eisenhower in East Meadow; Grant Park in Hewlett; Nickerson Beach Park in Lido Beach; and Wantagh Park in Wantagh.

The program is for children ages 5 to 12, separated in the following categories: early childhood (5-6); juniors (7-8); intermediate (9-10); and seniors (11-12).  Parents can choose between two sessions for their children: either 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.   

Fees for the program range from $700 for one child for the shorter session to $850 for the full-day session, with discounts available for both sessions for additional children from the same family.  The registration deadline is June 1, 2013.  There is a registration fee of $50 for new campers and for returning campers who apply after March 1, 2013.  Registration fees are not refundable.  

In addition to 45 minutes of open swim time at three of the parks, other activities include: arts and crafts, board and recreational games, Quick Start Tennis, 1st Tee Golf, and sports such as baseball, basketball, flag football, golf, Kan Jam, soccer, tennis, volleyball, and wiffle ball.  New for 2013 is a Multi-Sport camp, in affiliation with the U.S. Sports Institute, which will be offered at the conclusion of the Summer Recreation Program. This new program will run the weeks of Aug. 12 and Aug. 19. For further information please call: (516) 572-0245.
