Chaminade Student Receives 2013 ‘Good Deed’ Award

Christopher Heller one of 32 recipients of award given to Long Island teens.

Chaminade High School student Christopher Heller is among the 32 recipients of the 20th Annual Good Deed Awards for Long Island Teenagers.

The awards honor area high school students for their achievements as positive role models.

Rabbi Anchelle Perl, Director of the National Committee for the Furtherance of Jewish Education on Long Island (NCFJE), was joined by Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos and District Attorney Kathleen Rice for the awards ceremony at the Renee & Jan Burman Chabad Center for the Performing Arts of Mineola’s Congregation Beth Sholom Chabad.

The Good Deed Awards recognize outstanding young men and women who have demonstrated outstanding acts of goodness and kindness in our community.

The ceremony was highlighted with a speech by Andrew Paley, a parent of two 4th grade children who survived the shooting in Sandy Hook, CT.

The complete list for the student award recipients is as follows: Grace Agolia, Gregory Arning, Christopher Gabayan, Jordyn Habshoosh, Cory Levine, Katelyn Andrews, Juliana Bayda, Jeffrey Lozano, Eric Meltzer, Steven Trezza, Hannah Fagen, Laura Fletcher, Christopher Heller, Sonia Joshi, Shari Paltrowitz, Christine Beaudet, Brittany Berke, Tonya Bettineschi, Lily Pollard, Carly Salzman, Elizabeth Davoli, Iacquelyn Flor, Emily Hagen, Brittanie Joseph, Theresa LoCascio, Kevin Mohabir, Maor Purnsrian, Elizabeth Roberts, Jean Safoschnik, Brandon Schneider, John Shutkind and Cloe Southard.

A total of 760 Long Island teenagers have now received the award.
