The following comment was posted on the Mineola Patch Facebook page by Patti Purdy: "I likeRead More that Pat is looking to advance the children in the "middle." I do not like that her opponent thinks that someone whose children have graduated from our schools (and is no longer a "stakeholder") doesn't belong on the Board of Ed. In fact, I find that view insulting."

Vincent, voter tracking gas been done for centuries and is required to avoid voter fraud. TheRead More software being used replaces the antiquated legal pad where each voter was recorded by a number with their name and address written in by a poll worker. It is simply using a bar code and scan pen to record the same information, eliminating the need for extra workers, lowering the cost of elections and greatly speeding up the voting process. The mere fact that another district may have used this technology for the purpose of stacking the vote should not lead people to believe every district with this technology is doing the same. Like everything, there are correct uses and incorrect uses. Mineola has leveraged technology to save taxpayer money, along with reducing the number of polling places and the number of workers needed in each of them. The cost of this year's budget vote and election will be less than half the cost of last years. I can only speak for myself on this and cannot represent fellow board members opinions.

Cablevision News12 this week and the Sunday April 28 hard copy issue of the Newsday reported on anRead More investigation into software that many school districts are utiizing, Mineola is one, that can be used to track voters in school budget votes as well as School Board Elections. I wonder where Mineola Board of Education Trustee Irene Parrino stands on this issue as well as candidate Patricia Navarra? As a matter of fact I would like to know the position all of the present members of the Board regarding this.
