Originally built in 1923 as the district high school, the Mineola Middle School was created in 1962 and houses grades…More five through seven. Situated on a large square block along Emory Road, it is in-between Jackson and Garfield avenues.
Some of the remnants of the original high school still remain, such as the Greco-Roman carved letters depicting separate entrances for boys & girls, as well as designations for the gymnasium and cafeteria wings. You can also find the words "high school" inscribed above the main entrance.
The school features a large field to the north, just off of Jackson Avenue (featuring two softball fields), as well as plenty of green space in the front and rear of the building. One of the most unique features inside the school is the aquarium located near the school offices. It is stocked with a colorful array of exotic fish.
The Mineola School District is a Pre-K through 12th grade school district, encompassing parts of the communities of…More Mineola, Albertson, Williston Park, Garden City Park and Roslyn Heights within the district boundaries. There are four elementary schools in the district: Willis Avenue, Meadow Drive, Hampton Street and Jackson Avenue, as well as a middle school and high school.
The district administrative offices are housed on the second floor of the Willis Avenue School. The main entrance to the administration offices can be found in the back of the school just off the entrance to the rear parking lot from Jackson Avenue.
