The Office of Minority Affairs was created by the Nassau Legislature to promote and preserve the establishment ofMore businesses owned by minorities and women.  The OMA is responsible for overseeing Nassau County's affirmative action program as well as enforcing Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act.

In addition to holding seminars, workshops, lectures and other events in targeted communities to forward minority businesses, the OMA also investigates instances of discrimination and harassment in Nassau County workplaces.
