As I recall, the post in question dealt with the issue of carrying concealed weapons on campus. http://syosset.patch.com/groups/the-college-whisperer/p/guns-dont-kill-college-students-- Eddie has turned this into a tirade about Second Amendment rights.
At the same time, he disparages women, liberals, and anyone else who happens to disagree with his distorted point of view, resorting to ad hominem attacks and misogynistic one-liners such as, "Just another freedom-grabbing liberal woman."
This guy is a Neanderthal (with profound apologies to every Neanderthal that ever roamed God's green earth). I'd like to know what college had the audacity to award Eddie, king of the great thinkers, a degree. They should be sued for malpractice!
BTW, Eddie, 22 states, including New York, ban concealed carry on campus. http://www.ncsl.org/issues-research/educ/guns-on-campus-overview.aspx [Must be those "freedom grabbing liberal women" in the state legislatures!]
And recently (Eddie, take note), the Supreme Court of the United States declined to hear a case challenging NY's handgun law, which requires applicants to demonstrate a special need for self-protection to get a license to carry a concealed handgun in public. http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2013/04/15/supreme-court-wont-hear-challenge-to-n-y-s-concealed-carry-law/ The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in November 2012 affirmed a U.S. district court ruling that the so-called “proper cause” statute was “entirely consistent” with the Second Amendment.
Looks like the highest court in the land falls into your "freedom grabbing" theory, Eddie. Must be those liberal women Associate Justices!
Lastly (and this is just my opinion), knowing that someone with Eddie's mindset would be issued a gun permit, and allowed to carry a gun on a college campus, no less, is not only frightening. It clearly demonstrates the need for common sense measures to prevent gun violence, and stricter enforcement of gun control laws already on the books.
