Nassau Supreme Court Judge Meryl J. Berkowitz was recently honored as the recipient of the 2013 Norman F. Lent Memorial Award presented by the Criminal Courts Bar Association of Nassau County.

The award was given to Judge Berkowitz at the association’s annual dinner reception at the Fox Hollow County Club and is presented each year to an individual who through actions and deeds has consistently maintained the high standards of the legal profession.

“Judge Berkowitz is known for being both the Judge during the trial and as a mentor afterwards,a role all of the advocates always appreciate, “ said Daniel B.Friedman, President of the Criminal Courts Bar Association. “Attorney's who come before Judge Berkowitz, on both sides of a case, know that they will get a fair sentence commitment should they seek one but if there is a trial, herrulings will always be thoughtful and just, while based on the law. She is one of my favoritepeople and an outstanding jurist. This award is well deserved.”
