Ex-Mineola Fire Chief Sworn in as Fire Chiefs Council President

Michael DeStefano will serve as head of Nassau Fire Chiefs Council for 2012.

Ex-Chief Michael A. DeStefano was recently sworn in as President of the Fire Chiefs Council of Nassau County for 2012 by .

The Fire Chiefs Council of Nassau County represents all 235 current Chiefs in Nassau County along with all those who have already served as chief of a fire department totaling over 1,200 members.

This organization provides training, leadership, benevolence and guidance to all of the leaders in the Nassau County fire service.

 Ex-Chief DeStefano served as Mineola’s Fire Chief from 2001-2003 and also served as President of the Nassau County Firemen’s Association in 2006, which represents all Firefighters in Nassau County.

In addition to performing his duties for the Fire Chiefs Council of Nassau County, DeStefano continues to serve Mineola by attending over 60 percent of the alarms and also serving as warden of the Mineola Fire Department.

In addition to these duties, DeStefano is currently the Vice Chairman of the 1st Battalion Chiefs organization and serves on the New York State Legislative Committee for the State’s Firemen’s Association (FASNY) in Albany.

All of these duties are volunteer as DeStefano continues working a full time job and never forgetting the importance of not only family, but the community at large.
