Girl Scouts and DHL Team Up for 2013 “Operation Cookie”

Girl Scouts sends cookies to troops serving overseas.

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano joined the Girl Scouts of Nassau County and DHL Express on March 28 to ship thousands of boxes of cookies to U.S. troops overseas, as part of the Girl Scouts’ annual “Operation Cookie” program.

The cookie send-off was held at the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Headquarters. DHL Express picked up the cookies to be transported to U.S. servicemen and women as a way to show appreciation for their valued service to our country.

“Our men and women in uniform leave their families and risk their lives to protect our freedom. These Girl Scout cookies represent the well wishes and prayers of a grateful nation and the anticipation of a safe return. We hope that this little piece of home will bring joy to our servicemen and women while serving on their tour of duty,” said County Executive Mangano.
