NY State Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers gives award to Mineola office.

The Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD) was named the 2013 Agency of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers New York State (NASW-NYS) Chapter.

LICADD, which has offices in Mineola, Ronkonkoma and Riverhead, will be presented with the award on March 1, 2013 at the NASW-NYS 2013 Power of Social Conference in Albany.

LICADD provides direct support to over 6,600 individuals and families annually through substance abuse interventions, treatment referrals and recovery support services. The student assistance program (SAP) delivers prevention education trainings to 20,000 students, parents, teachers and administrators in 56 districts. An additional 60,000 individuals are served through the agency’s Open Arms Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

“I am honored to accept the award on behalf of our Clinical Team,” LICADD Executive Director Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds said in a statement. “We have an exceptionally dedicated staff and their commitment to their clients shows in each and every interaction.”

The agency, founded in 1956, also lobbies for public policy as it relates to underage drinking, substance abuse and access to treatment.

“LICADD is an exemplary organization,” explained NASW-NYS Executive DirectorReinaldo Cardona, MSSW, LCSW, “and we are pleased to bestow the 2013 Agency of the Year Award in light of the remarkable achievements LICADD and its staff continue to make in the field of social work.”
