Robert F. McCarthy of Mineola was named as the new chair of the 2,697-member Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law Section of the New York State Bar Association on Jan. 21.
McCarthy is a regional leader with the staff counsel operations of Nationwide Mutual Insurance. His primary specialization is commercial, excess, surplus and specialty lines of insurance.
An 18-year member of the State Bar, McCarthy recently served as vice-chair of the Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law Section. He was a member of the Committee on Court Operations, Task Force on E-Filing and Trial Lawyers Section.
McCarthy graduated from St. John’s University and earned his law degree from Fordham University School of Law.
The 76,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation. It was founded in 1876.
