Mineola Kiwanis Holds Annual Kids’ Day BBQ
Over 400 campers are treated to barbecue provided and served by Kiwanis Club volunteers.
After being forced to shuffle dates due to inclement weather, the Mineola Kiwanis Club hosted its annual Kids Day BBQ under pristine conditions this past Tuesday at .
Children from the Mineola summer recreation program were treated to hot dogs, chips and lollipops during their lunch recess on Tuesday afternoon, all of which was donated by Long Island Checker Cab and the rest paid for by the Kiwanis Club.
With weather a nonissue, children of all ages from the camp were treated to multiple helpings of barbecue from the Kiwanis Club before the end of the day for the camp.

The didn’t intimidate the number of volunteers, either.
“We’re going to have approximately 400 children,” Kiwanis Club President Ed Schutz said. “They’ll have their lunch break here at the BBQ.”

North Hempstead Town Clerk and Kiwanis member Leslie Gross also took the afternoon to assist the club with setting up for the BBQ.
“I’ve been involved on the ground level with this Kiwanis Club and they are really active and do a lot of great things,” Gross said.
