Boy Scout Troop 45 in Mineola held an Eagle Court of Honor for their four newest Eagle Scouts on April 12 at the First Presbyterian Church.

Mathew Kohl, Kevin Mulder, Jonathon D’Annunzio and Christopher Gavin were honored by friends and family as well by many local dignitaries and the whole Troop 45 Family.

Less than 4 percent of all the boys who join Scouts become Eagle Scouts. With these four new Eagle Scouts, Troop 45 has produced 129 Eagle Scouts in their 92-year history.

“This is a great event for not only these four families but for our whole Troop Family,” Scoutmaster Steve Grosskopf said, summing up the night. “I couldn’t be prouder of these young men, or of all our other Scouts who participated in this Court of Honor both as part of our Ceremonial Team and behind the scenes. This is indeed a great night for Troop 45!”

Mineola Mayor Scott Strauss and the village trustees were among the many government officials who made presentations to the four Eagle Scouts. As a Troop 45 Alumni as well as a Troop 45 Eagle Scout and a current Troop 45 Assistant Scoutmaster, Mayor Strauss also had the honor of leading the four young men in the Eagle Scout Oath.

“I’ve been to many Eagle Courts of Honor over the years, but no other Troop does them like Troop 45,” Strauss said. “This is indeed a proud day for the whole Troop Family.”
