What’s Open and Closed on Labor Day 2013 in Mineola
A list of what's open and what's closed on Labor Day, Monday Sept. 2.
While it has recently come to be known as the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day is actually a day to celebrate the economic and social contributions of laborers across this country, rewarding them for the work they do with a day off.
We know the Federal holiday can be a little confusing with what’s open or closed, so we’ve got a list to see you through the day.
Closed:

- The Mineola Library will be completely closed Monday.
- Federal, state government and village offices will be closed.
- Many banks are closed, but some may offer limited hours. Check with your local branch.
- Mineola public schools and Chaminade High School are closed today but will open Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively for the first day of classes.
Open
- Major stores, shopping malls and businesses are open.
- The LIRR is open and operating on a holiday schedule with extra trains running. Please check all timetables before departing.
- FedEx and UPS will be open.
