Mineola Chamber Donates $1,000 to Winthrop Breast Cancer Center

Funds to help patients with transportation to appointments, chemotherapy and therapy sessions.

Members of the recently visited ’s Breast Imaging & Diagnostic Center to present a check for $1,000 in support of efforts to help women with breast cancer who are in need of financial assistance with transportation to and from their doctor’s appointments, chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy sessions. 

The donation resulted from the collaboration among Mineola businesses and the Mineola Chamber of Commerce’s “Businesses Against Breast Cancer” campaign, which encouraged local companies to pledge their support by donating a percentage of their sales or make a straight donation to this worthy cause.

Present at the check presentation were members of the Mineola Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors , Robbin Valentine, Hon. Robert Rosenthal, , with Dr. Frank Monteleone, Winthrop Director of Breast Imaging Dr. Susana Fuchs, Mineola Chamber of Commerce President Ray Sikorski with chamber board members , Ruth Stuart and Winthrop Vice President/ Mineola Chamber Second Vice President John Broder.

Winthrop’s Breast Imaging & Diagnostic Center was recently designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. The center provides a multidisciplinary approach to breast health, offering services of skilled technologists, and access to Winthrop’s team of physicians and specialists trained in breast, plastic and reconstructive surgery.
