The Sprint cellular retail store at 143 Jericho Turnpike in Mineola is currently a vacant space. Built in 1927, the retail space sits below four apartments and has a square footage of 3,827 feet. The building also includes a basement for storage.

As of 2007, Sellcom Wireless, another cell phone retail store, operated out of the space. However, by 2012 Sprint had taken over as the occupant. According to the Nassau County Assessor’s Department, the deed of the building was transferred in July 2007 for $ 1.42 million. However since then the fair market value of the entire building has gradually declined from $985,760 in January 2011 to $731,200 as of January 2013.

The total school taxes for the 2013-2014 school year are $39,685. The property is being marketed by Bayside-based Graceful Park Realty Incorporated. Calls requesting comment were not returned.

In Monday’s Patch question, we want to hear what business you would like to see fill the vacancy? What store do you think would work in this location, which is in the heart of the Jericho Turnpike business district in Mineola, within walking distance of and numerous smaller shops, bars, delicatessens and other commercial business properties?
