The Mineola Lions Club recently donated $10,000 to Winthrop University Hospital for Winthrop’s Diabetes Education Center. The contribution completes a $100,000 commitment by the Mineola Lions to Winthrop for the Center over the last 10 years. The club also annually donates $2,000 for the children’s program at the Diabetes Education Center.

The Diabetes Education Center was the first diabetes education program in New York State to be accredited by the American Diabetes Association. Founded in 1979, the Center provides the knowledge, skills and tools people living with diabetes need to manage their chronic condition successfully and avoid the many associated complications.

The Mineola Lions will be hosting its annual Taste of the Grape wine tasting on Thursday, May 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the North Hempstead Country Club. For tickets and information visit mineolalionsclub.org.
