Carolyn P. Maiola, 44, Department of Veterans Affairs Officer

Carolyn P. Maiola passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the age of 44 at her home in Glen Ridge, NJ, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Mineola, NY, Maiola was a resident of Glen Ridge. A 1987 graduate of Glen Ridge High School, she was a member of the U.S. Air Force and a veteran of Desert Storm.

Currently, she worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs Police at the J.J.P. Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, where she held the rank of captain and was in charge of the training program.

She was the daughter of Patricia Flanagan Maiola of Glen Ridge and the late Salvatore Maiola; sister of Thomas and his wife, Alicia, of New York, and Scott and his wife, Yasbeth, of Glen Ridge; niece of Sr. Judy Flanagan O.P. of New York, and aunt of Eve, Alex, Emily, Helen, Sam, Matthew and Amanda.

A wake was held at the O'Boyle Funeral Home, 309 Broad St., Bloomfield, NJ, on April 15 with the funeral Mass offered at Sacred Heart Church and interment at Bloomfield Cemetery.
