Bookkeeper Pleads Guilty to Stealing $866G from Locust Valley Employer

A Huntington woman pleaded guilty Friday to stealing money from her employer, a Locust Valley architecture firm. Lori Maceluch is scheduled to be sentenced on March 11. She pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree grand larceny and two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree. She was arraigned in July on a grand jury indictment charging her with stealing more than $866,000 over a six-year period. Read more

Man Faces Dogfighting Charges

A West Hempstead man was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 17, on dogfighting charges involving eight pit bull dogs "housed in cages" with "bite wounds" and "scarring from previous wounds," according to the Nassau County District Attorney's office.

Police Seek Arson Suspect

Nassau County Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a person or persons in connection with an arson. On Monday, Jan. 6, at approximately 2:30 a.m., gasoline was poured on the front door of a residential home located on Circle Drive, Westbury, setting a fire. The person or persons fled the scene in an unknown direction. The victim was able to extinguish the fire without injury. Crime Stoppers is asking anyone who can identify the subject(s), or with any information about this crime to call 1-800-244-TIPS (8477).
