Crimes Nearby: Burglary, Illegal Alcohol Sales

A look at crimes in the towns surrounding Mineola.

The following arrest information was supplied by several local police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate convictions.

  • A male burglary suspect was arrested after allegedly breaking into a home on Sept. 17 and standing in the doorway to the resident’s bedroom. Officers responded and found the subject, a male 22-year-old from Ozone Park and placed him under arrest.
  • Four lawn statues valued at $100 each were removed from the rear yard of a Kensington Road residence on Sept. 20.

Police officers from Nassau County's Fifth Precinct conducted an investigation at the Mobil gas station on Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead into the prohibited sale of alcohol. It resulted in the arrest of Surinder Jakhu, of Bellrose, on Sept. 14 for selling an alcoholic beverage to a minor.
