Crimes Nearby: College Cafeteria Burglary, Marijuana and 11-Year Old Approached

The following arrest information was supplied by several local police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate convictions.

Lake Success

A disable tractor-trailer took out the right east-bound lane of the Long Island Expressway between exits 33 and 34 on Oct. 22 at 9:02 a.m.


A car overturned on the eastbound side of the Northern State Parkway at Glen Cove Road on Oct. 25 at 7:48 p.m. Injuries were reported. 


Nassau County Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a subject in connection with a petit larceny, which occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at approximately 2:46 p.m., and Friday, Aug. 16, at approximately 1:35 p.m. when the man was observed inside Target located at 2003 Broadway Mall, Hicksville. While present in the store the subject did steal a bluetooth keyboard and Switch Gear/Sherpa laptop case, and exit the store without making payment for the items. The subject fled the scenes in an unknown direction. A gas line was struck by contractors at 142 Division Ave. on Oct. 21 at 9:42 a.m. National Grid responded to the scene to secure the line and surrounding homes were evacuated.


Detectives arrested of three men for a burglary that occurred on Oct. 22, 2013 at 12:50 a.m. in Bethpage.According to detectives, Richard Marinaro, 27, a former employee of Briarcliffe College, used a key he retained and entered the school with Jason Geyer, 29, of Jericho and David Maroshick, 23, of Hicksville. While inside the college the defendants removed an undisclosed amount of money from the school’s cafeteria cash register. The defendant’s actions were captured by the school’s video surveillance system. On Oct. 23, Marinaro, Geyer and Maroshick were located and placed under arrest without incident.

The three defendants are charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on Oct. 24.

Franklin Square

A two-alarm fire broke out at a two-story home at 127 Doris Ave. on Oct. 24 at 7:07 p.m. The fire was contained at 7:56 p.m. Arson investigators were requested to the scene.

Stewart Manor

Police are investigating a suspicious incident that occurred on Friday, Oct. 18 at 3 p.m. According to detectives, an 11 year old male was walking westbound on Chester Avenue toward Covert Avenue when a maroon vehicle with gray trim, possibly a Subaru or Hyundai, drove up alongside of him. The driver yelled to the victim who became frightened and began to run. The vehicle followed him for approximately two blocks until he reached another group of children at which time the car drove away in an unknown direction. The vehicle is further described as possibly being a station wagon with some rust and had several items hanging from the mirror. The driver was a male white, in his 60’s, with long gray hair. Detectives request anyone with information related to the above incident to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

Garden City

On Oct. 17 police investigated reports of criminal mischief along Railroad Avenue apparently from golf balls being struck from a location on the south side of the Main Line railroad tracks.

On Oct. 20 Garden City detectives arrested a 22-year-old man from Levittown for the possession of five bags of alleged marijuana.

On Oct. 21 detectives arrested a 57-year-old Flushing man for a domestic incident that occurred on Oct. 18 at Garden City Plaza. The subject allegedly threatened his ex-wife in violation of a Family Court Order of Protection.
