Man Charged With Injuring Second Police Officer in Chase

Nassau resident Robert Stein charged with injuries to state trooper in pursuit.

A Nassau County resident is facing additional charges of injuring a second police officer stemming from a chase that went from Melville to Mineola on Jan. 25.

East Meadow resident Robert Stein was arrested Friday in connection with an incident that took place in Melville and left a Suffolk County police officer with minor injuries.

Stein, who stated that he is homeless, was wanted for allegedly stealing gas from various service stations in the area. He was apprehended after driving down a dead-end on East Second Street in Mineola.

According to police, Stein now faces additional charges stemming from the crash of a state trooper car in Garden City Park that injured the officer who was driving the vehicle while pursuing Stein. The trooper was taken to Winthrop Hospital where he was treated and released for a head injury. The Suffolk Police officer was treated at Huntington Hospital for lacerations and contusions according to police.

Stein was arraigned on Jan. 26 at First District Court in Central Islip on charges of reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, reckless endangerment, petit larceny and fleeing from police.

I'm sorry Marie but there is no information about when the project will actually start. TheRead More developer had requested an extension from the board at a previous meeting and we do not know of a firm start date. When we do receive one, we will most certainly publish it.
