Mineola Man Arrested for Touching Men at Sober Home

Counselor Joseph Wood charged with touching two victims at sober home in sexual manner.

Nassau County Police arrested a Mineola man on Oct. 26 on charges of forcibly touching two men in a sexual manner at a sober home at which he is a counselor.

According to detectives, Joseph Wood, 73, "came into contact" with two men, ages 31 and 21, at a sober house in Uniondale where he is a counselor. Allegedly, Wood was alone with one of the victims on each of the incidents, which occurred on Sept. 27 and Oct. 6, first beginning to hug the victim and then proceeded to forcibly touch them in a sexual manner.

Police arrested Wood at 12:20 a.m. on Oct. 26. He is charged with two counts of forcible touching and was arraigned on Oct. 26 in First District Court in Hempstead.
