The following comment was posted on the Mineola Patch Facebook page by Valeria Goncalves Mota: "May God give the entire Attard family the strength, understanding and love to deal with this. Nice kid, Nice family...God Bless!"

I think it was tasteless to put up his picture from his graduation day. The mug shot sufficed. It was unnecessary to put his family through further embarrassment.

In response to the comment by "hypocrite," Mr. Attard is not a bad guy. Obviously people make bad decisions but when they do, we certainly shouldn't shun them like that. This is when people need help the most.

So you're saying that he doesn't have free will for his actions? His family is a great group of people. The decisions he made or will make are his choice. Do not take it out on the family, especially if you don't know them.
What is a real shame though is your lack of maturity. No body is asking about your upbringing now though are they?

The whole A-TTARD joke is probably a joke that he heard when he was 5 years old. Keep your immaturity to yourself. I want to see you say all this to the family in person but I guarantee you won't because 1) you are a coward and 2) you will realize what a wonderful group of people they really are. Charlie is a great kid and just got caught up in something bad in which will hurt him for the rest of his life, but let's hope and pray that he has the strength to bounce back from this and get his life back in check instead of making cruel comments about the whole situation. He is still young and has his entire life ahead of him, I know he will be able to get through all of this.

I agree 100% with Brewskie. I understand that Mineola Patch has every right to do this but come on. It's MINEOLA Patch for a reason, we are a community, a family. Why embarrass one of our own like this? I guess Mineola Patch doesn't care about the people in Mineola after all, all they care about is publishing whatever's going to make them their money, with no worries about how it will affect people, which is what all the media does nowadays. It's a shame. Screw the media, and shame on the Mineola Patch.
