At least 21 homes without power after heavy downpour.

Following a heavy downpour of rain that occurred Friday morning, homes in the Mineola area were left in the darkness.

A total of 21 homes in Mineola were reported as being without power according to the LIPA storm center outage map. The site reports that there are two major outage sites with power estimated to be restored at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.

The LIPA website listed crews being assigned to one of the outage sites.

Less than 5 homes were reported being without electricity in Williston Park. Power restoration was estimated to be by 2:30 p.m. There were no crews assigned to that outage.

I do not know what you mean by a "senior building." Please be more specific. If you areRead More talking about the Winston-Churchill project and not a senior assisted living facility, we have a small update here: http://mineola.patch.com/groups/politics-and-elections/p/flood-mitigation-apartment-projects-moving-forward
